What it means:

How realistic or legitimate is the author's fear?

     - While the world that Huxley depicts is an exaggeration his fears of suppression of individuality are still realistic.

               Cloning - Designer babies

tadpole, fish, monkey, horse, camel, etc.

                         India - Caste system.

               Brainwashing - Propaganda

                         China / Russia (Zack)

                    Not just communist countries:

In America's culture we're brainwashed to think:

that America's way of life and government is superior

                                   through our education and propaganda

we are also brainwashed through the lack of information.

                                             (35) we are flooded with entertainment and propaganda (media and press) that distracts us from the truth of what is going on around us.

How much of the news actually matters?

The press and entertainment are convincing us that everything is fine and dandy when maybe it's not.

At the same time they blow some things out of proportion to make us fear what they want us to fear and not less us choose.

How possible is it to project the future in relation to this fear?

Creating more entertainments through technology to distract us.

Internet - Press is now everywhere. (Press is tied to the government)

CONCLUSION: WHY THIS IS IMPORTANT

Diversity allows for the ability to rebound when the current system isn't working.

You can't learn from one another or from your mistakes and you can't progress if everyone thinks the same.

Progressing in society helps us adapt to the problems that we face as a human society.

The power of humanity is how diverse we are in our beliefs and thought processes.

If someone is happy all of the time then they can never truly know what it is to be happy because they have no sadness to base it off of.
